Simulation Heat Transfer CFD

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR

Engineers or designers who are interested in modelling the flow around furnaces, electronic components, chemical reactions, air conditioning systems or temperature driven buoyancy flows. The course aims to give the attendees a hands-on approach on modeling heat transfer problems using ANSYS CFX. Heat transfer between two fluids, fluids and solids through conduction, convection and radiation are discussed.

A basic understanding of Fluid Mechanics and/or CFX is required. Those who wish to learn basic CFD should enrol on the Introduction to CFD course first.

DURATION

• 2 Days

TOPICS COVERED

- General heat transfer using CFX

- Simple isothermal flow

- Turbulence considerations when modeling   heat transfer

- Using sources - Conjugate Heat transfer

- Working with expressions

- Phase change

- Chemically reacting heat generation

COURSE AIMS
  • Understand the mechanisms of heat transfer.

  • Understand which heat transfer mechanisms are important for a particular analysis and how to model them.

  • Become familiar with the material properties and the boundary conditions required for heat transfer analyses.

  • Be able to deal with nonlinear thermal analyses and the tools required to achieve converged solutions.

  • To perform a transient thermal analysis and to use the associated solution controls.
