Master’s Degree Course in CAE
Visit Website

Why does a company delegate an employee to the master’s degree course Applied Computational Mechanics of esocaet? Because this is a fast and effective way to meet the growing demands for simulation engineers. They gain essential CAE know-how and cover their lack of experienced simulation engineers. As a continuing education study program, the Master ACM is intended for working engineers. With its pooled times of presence it offers the possibility to combine a professional career with advanced studies. Our students are engineers or natural scientists who are already working in the field of simulation, or design engineers who want to broaden their job description. An Advisory Board with members of BMW, Prof. Wall (TU München), Prof. Schrefler (University of Padua), Prof. Dallner (UAS Ingolstadt), Dr. Mueller (CADFEM GmbH), and others is supervising the advancement of the course. The master’s degree course will start in September for the fourth time.

Multi-Objective Optimization with modeFRONTIER
Visit Website
Simulation plays an important role in modern product design and development. The most general procedure can involve the design of the product in a CAD system, the mesh generation and finally the numerical simulation to test it regarding several performance criteria, often involving more then one discipline and/or software (e.g. acoustics, durability, impact behavior, cost modeling, manufacturing process, etc.). These days optimization software programs, such as ESTECO’s modeFRONTIER, act as robots controlling the design process. The role of the user is to create a parameterized digital model, for example in a CAD program, and to specify the objectives

Flexible Traffic Scenario Management within CarMaker
Visit Website

IPG Automotive presents the latest version of the object simulation capability IPGTraffic within CarMaker. It enables the interactive generation of arbitrary traffic scenarios and is optimally suited for the MIL, SIL, and HIL testing of different advanced driver assistance systems with object detection. For an easy and comfortable set-up of test scenarios CarMaker has now been extended by a test scenario manager allowing the precise configuration of traffic situations with a time, distance or event controlled process. The type, dimensions and the starting conditions, paths, velocities and accelerations of the objects can be defined dependent or independent on each other.

Coupling AnyBody and ANSYS for Biomedical Analysis

Ozen Engineering, an ANSYS and AnyBody Channel Partner, is putting the final touches for a one-way interface between AnyBody and ANSYS. This new program reads in AnyBody simulation results and writes out bone geometry and boundary conditions from AnyBody into ANSYS FEA models; it converts anysurf files to stl's and read them into ANSYS solid modeling tools where one can add a medical implant for further analysis. For instance, a spinal implant model can be affixed directly to the exported AnyBody movements in order to do finite element analysis. The AnyBody model can be changed or altered and those changes will be reflected in the ANSYS model, making the variety of test conditions for the implant as versatile as AnyBody itself.

A study has been conducted on the wind loadings of the roofs of the new football stadium of Panathinaikos FC, which is currently under construction. The geometry of the stadium was first suitably transformed and simplified according to the needs of the study. A numerical mesh comprising of tetrahedral and prismatic elements was constructed. The stadium is located in a smooth terrain with no surrounding buildings. Due to this and the double symmetry of the construction, three wind direction scenarios were sufficient for producing results representative of the wind loads on the roof of the stadium. At the inflow of the flow domain, a logarithmic high speed wind profile, according to EU regulations was applied. Steady state CFD simulations were performed. Postprocessing of the numerical results enabled the visualization of flow patterns and the estimation of forces and moments on the roofs and their supports. A differential pressure distribution on the thin roofs of the stadium gave to the Structural Engineers maps of upward and downward loadings. Most part of the roofs, and for all scenarios, were found under upward loads but downward (adverse for the supports) loads were also evidenced.

Tuesday, 14. October 2008 - Stazione Marittima, Trieste/Italy

To stay competitive and gain market share, companies are forced to continuously improve the quality of their products. While this have been a longtime-held belief for most managers, only in recent years has it become clear that achieving higher quality is not necessarily at odds with efforts to reduce cost and time-to-market.

By attending this conference, you will have a chance to learn how modeFRONTIER®, the best multidisciplinary & multi-objective design optimization tool available on the market, is used by designers and managers around the world to achieve higher quality while reducing costs.
