The Analysis Geometry Processor (AGP) from ANSYS Inc serves to bridge the gap between CAD and simulation. CAD models initially generated by engineers and designers are often configured to be used in conjunction with with rapid prototyping, drafting and machining applications. Few CAD programs offer the same compatibility with analysis and simulation.

AGP functions as an add-on to the DesignSpace suite of products and contains the tools necessary to modify an attached or imported model to suit your simulation requirements. It offers the following capabilities:

• Import parasolid and sat files (parts and assemblies)
• Convert solid CAD models to surface models
• Add parameterised features with 2D sketches and 3D features
• Slice models to prepare for hex-meshing
• Export parasolid or sat
• Split surfaces for loading points
• Create models for simulation if no CAD system available (note: AGP cannot create drawings or assemblies)
