Fatigue Module - Is a comprehensive and powerful fatigue prediction tool that enables engineers to predict the life of a equipment using a range of criteria. AI Workbench - DesignSpace customisation tool that allows company specific FEA applications to be developed with ease. This application was originally designed by ANSYS help Application developers to construct and enhance ANSYS & DesignSpaceV6 plus product GUI's. It works by providing the 'developer' access to 'canned' Java/c++ programs that utilise ANSYS subroutines such as geometry import Plugins and ANSYS solvers. There is an example of an AI Application on DesignSpace V6.1 CD that leads the users through a dynamic vibration analysis that uses the DesignSpace solver, 'higher-end' solvers can be accessed depending on the ANSYS product licences you have access to. In summary, AI Workbench gives businesses the opportunity to develop their own customised applications, thus reducing training overheads and improving analysis consistency. DesignXplorer - Uses unrivalled goal seeking/design optimisation technology to enable businesses to develop the 'Ultimate Product Design Solution'. DesignXplorer takes CAD Variables and Analysis Goals (such as a material Stress Limits), set up by the design engineer, and creates graphical design possibility maps that offer design options that approach or satisfy design criteria. These maps are then used to select and view satisfactory design options via CAD variable configurations.

Sounds complicated? Well DesignXplorer is pretty easy to use, just like DesignSpace. In simple terms you provide DesignXplorer with your DesignSpace Analysis file (dsdb) and a list of dimensional CAD variables. You then enter a range of optimisation goals such as: minimise weight but keep the safety factor as low as possible and Hey-Presto! a 3D graph that allows you to select alternative design options that have safety factors which approach or satisfy the criteria. The special value of this tool over and above its rivals is that it graphically demonstrates a range of design options that satisfy or come close to the initially specified goal. The user can then select and investigate various design optimums from the 3D graphs and load them back into CAD. CAE Templates - Special DesignSpace templates that will allow the DesignSpace user to write out DesignSpace files in such a way that they can be imported directly into higher capability versions of ANSYS software and 'solved' to provide additional engineering information such as permanent damage or time dependent thermal data.
