Post-Processing
A state of the art post- processing and visualization module, ICEM CFD Visual3, provides the CFD professional with easy-to-use powerful result visualization features for structured, unstructured, and hybrid grids. ICEM CFD Visual3 provides an in depth view of data with visualization tools such as cutting planes, contouring, iso-surfaces, streamlines, line plots, data probes and animation. Features such as a CFD function calculator and an intuitive based user interface make ICEM CFD Visual3 a powerful interpretation tool of computed results. The ANSYS ICEM CFD Visual3 is a flexible and customizable post-processor that interfaces with all the major CFD/CAE solvers.

ICEM CFD Visual3 provides an integrated environment for CAD Geometry, ICEM CFD computational grids, and the flow solution.
ICEM CFD Visual 3 can read files written in the following formats; CGNS, AVS, CFD++, CFX, DAMAS, Ensight, Fensap, Fieldview, Fluent, Hawk, ICAT, NetCDF, NS3D, Plot3D, STAR-CD, Tecplot, AcuSolve and TDM. Most solvers can output in at least one of these formats, so these actually cover many solvers.
It can also be used to map CFD results on to FEA mesh which can then be exported to FEA solvers such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, LSDYNA or AUTODYN. |

ICEM CFD Visual3 provides the CFD professional with easy-to-use powerful post-processing features for steady or transient, structured, unstructured, or hybrid grids. ICEM CFD Visual3 is integrated with ICEM CFD's grid generation modules, where access to CAD geometry information is maintained throughout the grid generation, post-processing of solution data, and grid adaptation processes. ICEM CFD Visual3 is based on the original Visual3 developed by Bob Haimes of MIT.
ICEM CFD Visual3 provides an in depth view of data with visualization tools such as cutting planes, contouring, iso-surfaces, streamlines, line plots, data probes, and animation. Features such as a CFD function calculator, data validation, and an intuitive user interface make ICEM CFD Visual3 a powerful, productive, and customizable interpretation tool for your results.
The main features of ICEM CFD Visual3, Version 2.0 are: contours, vectors, grids, twisting, stream ribbons, cut planes, iso-surfaces, domain surfaces, result surfaces, offset surfaces, probes, integration, XY plots, function calculator, comparison, scripts, annotations, and animations.
Highlights in ICEM CFD Visual3, Version 2.0:
- Grouping and sub-grouping of the surface families is available with the Windows look and feel.
- The Surface Manager manages all kind of settings and options for a static as well as a dynamic surface including the probing, surface integration, color map settings etc. The Surface Manager can be used to control the display status for all surfaces, including any dynamic surface, domain surfaces, and user-defined surfaces.
- Surface flow can be computed and displayed for any individual surface through the Surface Flow section in the Properties sub-window.
- Stream lines can be started from nodes as well as the centers of the elements. The Streams Manager further allows the user to organize streamlines into groups for efficient management.
- The Annotation Manager is enhanced to allow the user to create, move and modify annotations interactively.
- Multiple views (1D, 2D and 3D View Frames) option is available. A frame (or sub-view window) can be created and placed inside any existing view window (1D, 2D or 3D). Each of these windows can be manipulated independently.
- Post-up menu is available for all view windows and Frames for the user to easily execute numerous tasks like orientations, manipulating frames, annotations, creating hardcopies, etc.
- Quick alignment hotkeys are available for the model
- The Animation Controller for all animating features like streamlines, views, cut planes, etc.
- The improved XY plot capability with plot along an arc or a curve, and the new function calculator.
