Who is the course for

This course is designed for people who have already attended the "Introduction to ANSYS Part 1" and "Introduction to ANSYS Part 2 courses" (or who have equivalent experience) and who wish to use APDL to create macros and/or automate analyses. Students should have ideally taken part on the Introduction to ANSYS Part 1 or 2 course or have equivalent experience.

  • Use APDL to run a complete analysis.
  • Use APDL to automate post processing tasks.
  • Create customised output.

  • Scalar and array parameters and information retrieval from the ANSYS database
  • Local and global parameters
  • Arrays, string arrays & vector operations
  • Forced parameter substitution
  • Reading data from external files and writing ANSYS data to external files
  • Writing macros, including the use of looping, conditional branching and arguements
  • Creating dialog box to prompt user for input data
